01When a redesign actually pays off
A redesign is worth doing when the current site is costing you business, not just when it looks dated. That's usually one of three things: it doesn't rank for anything your customers actually search, it doesn't say clearly enough what you do and for whom, or it takes too long to load on the phone most of your visitors are using.
We start every redesign by working out which of those is actually true for you — through the same keyword, competitor and AI-citation research we run before any KOODOS build — rather than assuming a new look will fix a structural problem.

- How do I know if I need a redesign or a full rebuild?
- If your site still describes a business you've outgrown, doesn't rank for anything people actually search, or is slow to load on mobile, that's a redesign. If the whole information architecture needs to change — new services, new audience, a different sales process — that's closer to a rebuild. We'll tell you which one you actually need before quoting either.
- Will a redesign hurt my current search rankings?
- Done carelessly, yes — changing URLs or removing content without redirects is the most common way small businesses lose rankings they already had. We map every existing page against its replacement before launch, so nothing that currently ranks disappears without a plan.
- How long does a website redesign take?
- Every redesign follows the same shape: research and positioning first, then a plan, then a fixed-scope build through launch. How long that takes depends on how many pages need rebuilding and how much of the research is starting from scratch — we'll give you a real timeline once we've scoped the work, not before.
